Claw Clip Sizes: mm and Inch Chart for Wholesale Buyers

Compare claw clip sizes in mm and inches, see where our 105 mm and 110 mm models fit, and learn which jaw dimensions to specify for wholesale orders.

TL;DR

Claw clip sizes range from tiny accent clips to XL styles: Jenny Lemons lists micro at 19.05–25.4 mm and XL at 127–152.4 mm (Jenny Lemons, n.d.). Our listed models are 105 mm and 110 mm long, about 4.13 inches and 4.33 inches. Start with the chart, then compare jaw geometry before choosing a wholesale size.

Claw clip sizes: a source-attributed mm and inch chart

Jenny Lemons’ retail guide places claw clip sizes from Micro at 0.75 to 1 inch (19.05 to 25.4 mm) through XL at 5 to 6 inches (127 to 152.4 mm). These are source-specific labels, not standardized industry cutoffs, so a wholesale specification should retain the numeric length beside the size name. (Jenny Lemons, n.d.)

Micro through XL: one named sizing system

The chart below reproduces the five named ranges in the Jenny Lemons guide. Millimeter figures are direct unit conversions. Their decimal places show the conversion result, not extra measurement precision or a proposed production tolerance. (Jenny Lemons, n.d.)

Jenny Lemons label Length in inches Length in millimeters Typical styling use from retail guides
Micro 0.75-1 in 19.05-25.4 mm Accents and very small sections (Brown, n.d.)
Mini 1-2 in 25.4-50.8 mm Small sections and some half-up styles (Brown, n.d.) (TEGEN Accessories, n.d.)
Midi 2-3.5 in 50.8-88.9 mm Fuller half-up styles or fine-to-medium-hair updos (Brown, n.d.) (TEGEN Accessories, n.d.)
Large 4-5 in 101.6-127 mm Full updos, including many long- or thick-hair applications (Brown, n.d.) (TEGEN Accessories, n.d.)
XL 5-6 in 127-152.4 mm Larger full-up styles for long or thick hair (Brown, n.d.) (TEGEN Accessories, n.d.)

The published ranges leave a 3.5-to-4-inch gap and share the 5-inch boundary between Large and XL. (Jenny Lemons, n.d.)

What each length range typically suits

Retail guidance gives buyers a useful starting point: shorter clips are generally presented for accents, small sections and half-up styling, while longer clips are presented for fuller updos and long or thick hair. (Brown, n.d.) (TEGEN Accessories, n.d.) These applications are broad styling guidance, not tested capacity bands for our products.

Our 105 mm models convert to about 4.13 inches, and our 110 mm models to about 4.33 inches. Both sit within Jenny Lemons’ 4-to-5-inch Large range. The later model comparison covers their individual shapes and materials.

Why small, medium and jumbo labels overlap

A 4-inch clip measures 101.6 mm. The examples below show where that length falls in two brands’ ranges and how rounded catalog conversions differ from exact ones.

Two retail definitions of Large overlap: 76.2–127 mm in one guide and 101.6–127 mm in another
Published Large ranges overlap, so specify a numeric length in your purchasing brief.

A four-inch clip can carry different labels

Teleties places Large across 3 to 5 inches, while Flirty Pineapple calls its 3-inch clip Small and its 4-inch clip Medium. (Brown, n.d.) (Flirty Pineapple, n.d.)

A four-inch claw clip can therefore be Large in Teleties’ 3-to-5-inch range but Medium in Flirty Pineapple’s chart. (Brown, n.d.) (Flirty Pineapple, n.d.)

Rounded retail units versus purchasing dimensions

Flirty Pineapple pairs 3, 4 and 5 inches with 7.5, 10 and 12.5 cm. Those are rounded retail equivalents. Exact conversions are 76.2, 101.6 and 127 mm. (Flirty Pineapple, n.d.)

Rounding is separate from manufacturing tolerance. A rounded catalog conversion describes the same nominal size in another unit; tolerance defines the permitted variation on a specified molded dimension.

Label boundaries vary at the upper end too. Machete calls a 1.75 x 4.75-inch dimension pair Jumbo, without identifying a length-width order. (MACHETE, n.d.)

Jenny Lemons starts XL at 5 inches, or 127 mm. (Jenny Lemons, n.d.)

Compare jaw geometry after choosing overall length

Tegen’s product examples pair length with width: Mini 5 x 3 cm, Original Medium 9 x 4 cm and Original Large 11 x 7 cm. Those pairs show why claw clip sizes need at least two dimensions. Equal lengths can still surround different internal spaces when the body outline, jaw curve or hinge placement changes. (TEGEN Accessories, n.d.)

Paired length and width bars for retail Mini 50×30 mm, Medium 90×40 mm and Large 110×70 mm examples
These retail examples show why length and width belong in separate specification fields.

The dimensions to put in a size brief

In this brief, overall length means the clip’s end-to-end footprint, not the distance between its open jaws. Once you choose a target length, specify the jaw as a set of related dimensions. A short RFQ table is enough for initial mold review.

Field What it changes Reference to send
Overall length The clip’s end-to-end footprint Dimensioned drawing or ruler photo
Closed outside width Body proportions and visible bulk Top-view measurement
Usable jaw opening Space available when the jaws open Side-view photo with the opening measured
Tooth geometry and clearance How the two tooth rows meet and leave internal space Close side view, tooth count and a reference sample

Use one measurement direction consistently. Mark the endpoints on the drawing or photo so "length" and "width" cannot be reversed. If a physical reference is available, send it with the dimensional brief. Detailed checks belong in our sample approval checklist, rather than turning the RFQ into an inspection procedure.

Match the section of hair, not only its length

Hair length alone does not define the required internal space. Strand thickness, total hair volume and the intended style describe different variables. A half-up style captures one section of hair, while a full-up style must contain a larger share of the same head of hair.

For an accurate comparison, tell us whether the clip is intended for half-up or full-up styling and send a reference sample that already gives the desired fit. We can then compare its outline, opening and tooth arrangement with an existing mold or identify where a new structure needs feasibility review. This avoids a universal "thick hair" threshold that may not match the hairstyle or jaw shape.

Where our 105 mm and 110 mm models sit

Our listed 105 mm clips equal about 4.13 inches, while the 110 mm clips equal about 4.33 inches. Jenny Lemons places both lengths inside its 4 to 5 inch Large range (Jenny Lemons, n.d.), and Tegen labels its 110 mm example Large (TEGEN Accessories, n.d.).

Overall lengths of CL-001 and CL-002 at 105 mm, and CL-003 and CL-004 at 110 mm
Our four listed existing-mold models have overall lengths of 105 mm or 110 mm.

Existing models and their exact listed lengths

Four fully assembled products are available from our existing molds:

  • CL-001 Soft Flexible Moon Cutout: 105 mm, PP
  • CL-002 Rectangular Cutout Matte: 105 mm, ABS
  • CL-003 Skeleton: 110 mm, ABS, glossy
  • CL-004 Twist Cutout: 110 mm, ABS

The chart shows two clear length groups. It should not be read as a performance ranking or a complete mold inventory. We have more than 10 existing mold styles, with current availability confirmed for each inquiry.

What changes between two equal-length designs

At 105 mm, the choice is between the PP Moon Cutout and the ABS Rectangular Cutout Matte. At 110 mm, the ABS options are the glossy Skeleton and the Twist Cutout. Start with the silhouette and finish that suit your range.

Use this short selection checklist when comparing samples:

  • Confirm the intended hairstyle and target user.
  • Compare jaw opening, tooth layout and usable interior space.
  • Review body shape and material with the length.
  • Record the selected model code in the sample approval.

Buyers deciding how many styles to include can use our wholesale range-planning guide. It covers assortment breadth separately, while the size guide keeps clip sizing tied to measurable product dimensions.

How we handle size requests at our factory

We are ClawClipFactory, the brand of Quzhou Jiahe Plastic Products Co., Ltd., a plastic injection-molding factory in Quzhou, Zhejiang, China. Our team handles molding, spring installation, assembly, inspection and packaging in-house.

A smaller version of an existing clip needs a feasibility review and separate tooling quotation. It is not produced by changing a molding setting. The mold cavity defines the part geometry, while the resized clip must still accommodate the teeth, hinge, spring and assembled movement.

Six-step new-size tooling route from brief review through feasibility, mold development and production release
A newly sized design moves through feasibility review, tooling development and sample approval.

Existing mold samples versus a newly sized design

When an existing mold matches the requested dimensions and structure, we can prepare the project around that model. A new overall length, width or mechanical structure follows our custom-tooling route shown above.

The written quotation records scope, payment terms, timing and ownership conditions. It does not assume that a 105 mm design can simply be scaled to another length. The relationship among wall sections, teeth, hinge space and spring fit must be reviewed for the proposed geometry. Buyers comparing both routes can use our existing-mold versus new-tooling guide.

Dimensional consistency after sample approval

ASTM D955-21 addresses shrinkage between a mold cavity and a molded thermoplastic part, including effects from mold and melt temperature, filling and packing conditions (ASTM International, 2021). ISO 20457:2026 provides a framework for molded-part tolerances and acceptance conditions (International Organization for Standardization, 2026). Together, they support agreeing dimensions for the actual clip rather than copying a generic tolerance.

For custom clip dimensions, the buyer and our team should identify the dimensions that control assembly or appearance, then record the acceptance conditions for the approved design.

Injection molding, spring installation, assembly, inspection and packaging are handled in-house. We check molded parts for filling, flash and deformation. After sample approval, we lock the molding conditions and retain them for repeat batches, so the approved sample remains the practical production reference.

What to send us for an accurate size quote

A useful inquiry separates known dimensions from open questions. Send the measurements you have, identify the dimensions that control your buying decision, and leave unknown geometry for our feasibility discussion.

A compact dimensional brief

Include these fields so we can compare the request with an existing mold or assess a new size:

  • Model code, reference photos or a dimensioned drawing
  • Overall length in millimeters, plus any available closed-width or jaw-opening information
  • The dimensions that matter most and your proposed acceptance requirements
  • Intended hairstyle, such as a full updo or half-up style
  • Quantity required for each style
  • Material and physical color reference, plus surface and packaging needs

Do not estimate missing tooth, hinge or opening dimensions. We can discuss unknown geometry during feasibility review. For broader purchasing preparation, use our shortlist-to-order-brief guide.

Sample terms and the starting MOQ

At ClawClipFactory, our standard starting MOQ is 1,000 pieces per style, and we evaluate multi-style orders style by style. We answer quote requests within 24 hours. Our typical sample target is about 7 days after requirements, the sample fee and freight are confirmed, subject to mold readiness, material, color and sample scope.

The buyer pays the sample fee and freight. The sample fee can be credited against the production order when agreed. The sample target applies to sampling only and should not be read as a new-tooling lead time.

FAQ: wholesale size specifications

How big is a normal claw clip?

Our listed models are 105 mm and 110 mm long, about 4.13 and 4.33 inches. For a full-up style, compare jaw opening and usable interior space as well as overall length. For half-up styling, use a reference clip that fits the intended section of hair.

Are 105 mm and 110 mm clips large or jumbo?

Our 105 mm models measure about 4.13 inches, while our 110 mm models measure about 4.33 inches. Both sit within the Jenny Lemons Large range of 101.6 to 127 mm, rather than its XL range beginning at 127 mm. (Jenny Lemons, n.d.) At our factory, CL-001 and CL-002 are 105 mm; CL-003 and CL-004 are 110 mm.

Can two clips with the same length hold different hair volumes?

Yes. For sample selection, send a clip that gives your desired fit and specify whether the target style is half-up or a full updo. Compare candidate samples on that same hairstyle before choosing the model.

Can an existing 105 mm mold be used for a smaller version?

No, not simply by changing the molding settings. A smaller version changes the part geometry and requires our feasibility review, followed by a separate tooling quotation covering written scope, payment terms, timing, and ownership conditions. The existing mold remains suitable for the shape and dimensions it was built to produce.

What is the MOQ when ordering more than one size?

Our standard starting MOQ is 1,000 pieces per style. We evaluate multi-style orders style by style, so a 105 mm design and a 110 mm design are treated as separate styles when confirming the order structure. The final quotation states the applicable quantity for each requested style.

How quickly can we sample a size from an existing mold?

Our typical sample target is about 7 days after the requirements, sample fee, and freight are confirmed. Actual timing depends on mold readiness, selected material, color, and the requested sample scope, even when the size comes from an existing mold. Current mold availability is checked for each inquiry.

Choose dimensions, then send us your size brief

Choose claw clip sizes by numeric overall length first, then compare the closed width, jaw opening and tooth geometry needed for the intended hairstyle.

For an existing-mold inquiry, send us the target length, preferred shape and a model code if one fits your range. A reference photo or drawing should include marked dimensions rather than relying on visual scale. We can then confirm current mold availability and discuss the sample scope.

Our listed existing-mold options include 105 mm and 110 mm models. If your brief changes the shape, size or mechanical structure, we review feasibility and quote new tooling separately. The clearest purchasing decision is therefore one of two routes: match an existing model or provide a dimensioned drawing for a new-size discussion.

Conclusion

A clear size brief records overall length, jaw opening and tooth geometry for the intended hairstyle. Our 105 mm and 110 mm models offer existing-mold starting points, with a standard MOQ of 1,000 pieces per style. Send your target dimensions and reference design so we can discuss sampling or the separate tooling route for a new size.
